right, ho, hum.
this is my new blog which will hopefully be centred around my new crafty pursuits (mainly jewellery) but some other fun bits. my old blog rhubatalks.blogspot.com is a good four years old b'now and i can't remember the password so nuts to that! plus, having a dedicated site for the bijoux is much better me things?
i'll use the same format though, which involved my 'tune of the moment' at the top (ie what i have been listening to, or what i listened to last) and a nice quote at the end, which just gives everyone something to think about. or maybe just to think wt%?

firstly i'll explain the name: i speak the french, and 'bijoux' is french for jewellery (yup) i thought that on it's own was a bit boring (and obvious - especially to the francophones amongst us!) so i added a bit of my internet alias (rhuba) onto the front. i think it fits quite nicely, don't you. plus no-one else has it, so i get aaaall the domain names!
right, well. at the moment, i am waiting on a couple of benches from the lovely tommy, so i can bolt my heavy duty tools to it ..... pillar drill, bench vice, anvil and so forth. i am rather excited about the prospect of having a proper workshop! since we moved into the new hoose i've been able to actually make things for the sake of it, instead of just squeezing into make a necklace or two on demand. woo! pics will follow shortly.... (just need my personal photographer/web developer/mortgage payer to pull his foot out a bit!!)
on a more rubbish note, my prized possession - the mini barrel polisher, which saves me a million hours of polishing has brooooken! nooooooooo! but the guys i got it from have agreed to fix it for free, despite it being outside the warranty. tis helpful to have friends in high places. still, it won't help the commissions i have on at the mo. have to make ollie a pair of earrings for his ma and will have to polish them by hand - who has the time??
anywho, will be off now. am going to do some mild (free) betting this evensong at belle vue, and having a three course meal. om nom.
